Position Summary

The purpose and mission of the Marion County Treasurer’s Office is to collect and invest property taxes. In doing so the agency is responsible for billing, collecting, investing, and distributing property taxes and provides financial analysis related to these functions. This is accomplished by cultivating a productive, collaborative, and compliant work environment in order for our workforce to meet the needs of the citizens of Indianapolis and Marion County. This position is responsible for managing external relations with diverse community groups, organize and coordinate special events, develop information for distribution and understand the tax payments. The incumbent in this position work is performed utilizing established policies and procedures, which controls most of their job requirements. The incumbent in this position does need to be able to use some independent judgment. Position reports to Manager Operations.

Position Responsibilities

  • Directs, plans, and implements community outreach strategies aimed at promoting the agency and increasing community awareness
  • Responsible for identifying communication engagement opportunities
  • Meets with public regarding MCTO issues
  • Plans, develops, organizes, and oversees special events
  • Review website for accuracy and information
  • Develops presentations and interacts with groups, attend community events to exchange information, seek input and determine community needs
  • Assists manager as needed
  • Develop internal communications detailing the strategies of how the community outreach program will work and give monthly updated reports on the progress
  • Cooperating with team to write promotional materials for MCTO
  • Maintains confidentiality of information

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or related field with five (5) years of work experience in developing outreach programs for city, county, state, or not-for-profit organizations. Must possess excellent presentation skills, collaborative skills, and ability to influence desired outcomes. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Must be able to present complex data and communicate clearly and effectively. Must be able to establish and set priorities according to time sensitive information. Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally both in oral and written formats.

Preferred Job Requirements and Qualifications
