The position is responsible for collaborating with City/County departments to ensure effective implementation of project-centered goals and objectives are met for language access. Position is responsible for managing and facilitating the progress and results of high-priority projects under the direction of the Mayor’s Office. Position Responsibilities

Build an enterprise wide language access program aimed at significantly increasing language access for emerging bi/multilingual Indianapolis residents during the COVID-19 pandemic. Manages project timelines and execution from various team members. Assists with the development of project road maps, milestones, and identification of language access objectives. Provide guidance to city departments and county agencies around language access so emerging bi/multilingual Indianapolis residents can become more engaged and informed of city/county COVID-19 resources, services, opportunities, and information. Collaborate across departments to develop and implement language access tools, procedures, and best practices that meet the needs of city/county employees and emerging bi/multilingual residents. Develop a working framework to implement enterprise wide language access program, including consistent translation and interpretation, training for Language Access Coordinators (LAC), and other activities as needed. Conduct research and prepare a citywide best practices toolkit resource for city/county departments. Lead an outreach strategy for collecting resident and community feedback on enterprise wide language access along with a citywide language access survey tool to be developed. Provide up-to-date COVID information/education, social media (posting and marketing campaigns), specifically targeted for Indianapolis diverse communities. Advise on specific department/county agency communications that might have need for specific language cultural considerations. Convene a Language Access Advisory Committee to provide consistent guidance to department/county agency management, LAC, and staff. Integrate City/County style guide into the City/County Language Access Program. Create a tracking system of language assistance needs related to COVID-19. Coordinate with Office of Public Health and Safety to develop COVID-19 community resources, partnerships, and other relationships to ensure the provision of appropriate and relevant language services.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field and a minimum of 1 year of professional level work experience, preferably in community relations, government affairs, and/or Diversity,Equity, and Inclusion. Experience with Excel, Word, and Powerpoint a must. Familiarity with social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook groups/pages, Canva) Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications
