Position Summary

Position audits sales disclosure forms filed with the Marion County Assessor in a timely manner to confirm the validity and accuracy of sales information that provides an important confirmatory tool in the property assessment process.

Position Responsibilities

Audits submitted sales disclosures using International Association of Assessing Officials (IAAO) suggested techniques including but not limited to viewing aerials of property, using mailed surveys, and phoning parties to the transaction.

Acts as back-up to sales disclosure specialists during periods of high volume or occasionally during scheduled breaks.

Performs quality control checking on work product produced by sales disclosure specialists.

Coordinates sales disclosure review with the deed transfer process to ensure that both processes run smoothly.

Effectively assists all persons who visit office or who call over the telephone.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of one (1) year’s prior work related experience are required. Applicants must be certified by the DLGF as a Level II Assessor/Appraiser or be willing to earn that certification within six months of hiring. Effective project management, computer, and communication skills are required. Knowledge of basic real estate transfer issues is required. Applicants must have the ability to assist customers in a professional and courteous manner, whether it’s face-to-face, by email, or over the telephone. The position requires attention to detail and candidates must be able to type, create, and edit reports as needed, and communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. All activities must comply with state law.

Independent Judgment

Position requires the knowledge of established laws, policies and procedures, which controls most of the actions in this position. Other duties and tasks are routine in nature and performed under moderate supervision following standard procedures. Independent judgment, subject to supervisory oversight, is used when there are no available policies and procedures.
