Small-town America is alive and well in Indiana! Located less than an hour south of downtown Indianapolis, Bargersville is a growing town rich in family history and new beginnings.

My wife was born and raised in Bargersville, but it wasn’t until she left for college that we realized how unique this place truly is. Our town offers the perfect balance of community and tranquility, blending all the amenities of the suburbs with the peace and quiet of rural life.

Although the town’s grown since my wife’s childhood, those farming community values remain embedded in our identity. Bargersville residents are down-to-earth, humble and hard-working people focused on helping one another—and that community spirit left little doubt we would raise our own family here one day.

Rural or suburb life? You decide in Bargersville!

A lot of places only offer one type of lifestyle, whether that’s city apartments, suburb neighborhoods, or middle-of-nowhere country homes. But Bargersville has it all, allowing you to pick and choose the lifestyle that best fits your family!

Due to our town’s rapid growth, residents can easily find new build homes, including many upscale subdivisions packed with modern amenities. The Aberdeen neighborhood was even featured in the Builder’s Association of Greater Indianapolis annual Home-A-Rama, showcasing the best of the region’s new home construction. Over 10,000 people came to Bargersville to see this unique Wellness Lifestyle Community, designed to better connect families with nature.

If that’s not your style, the southside of Bargersville offers the traditional rural lifestyle that our community’s best known for. You’ll find a number of families who have farmed this land for generations, as well as new residents looking to put down roots in wide, open landscapes.

Looking for a good school district? Bargersville has Center Grove Community Schools to the north and Franklin Community Schools to the south. Both districts are known for their high-quality education, so everyone can feel good about raising a family in Bargersville.

Bargersville was officially platted in 1850 and named in honor of the town’s first resident.

Many of the state-of-the-art amenities at Kephart Park were funded by donations from local businesses and families, perfectly representing our town’s community spirit.

Our population doubled between 2015 and 2025, and Bargersville continues to be one of the fastest growing communities in the state.

What are the best restaurants in Bargersville?

Over the last several years, Bargersville has made a name for itself in Indy’s booming food scene, as more delicious restaurants come to town. First off, Our Table American Bistro was ranked one of America’s Top 100 Restaurants by OpenTable. They are known for their elegant entrees—each paired with a wine. Make sure you reserve your table well in advance, as this place has been booked every night since it opened!

Bargersville is also home to the original Taxman Brewing Company. They have won countless awards for their house beers and have an amazing seasonal food menu. They also host a huge annual beer festival called Death & Taxes Day! Main Street Bargersville shuts down for Death & Taxes Day, and over 40 local breweries and wineries join the fun and showcase their latest libations.

The Taxman family of restaurants in Bargersville has also expanded to include a brick-oven pizza bar, the Up Cellar steakhouse, and the Cellar’s Market selling locally sourced goods—an awesome mid-day place for a lunch meeting or a pick-me-up latte.

Bargersville makes it easy to commute in or work remote.

Remote work has changed the way we think about moving, but your home still needs to work for your career goals. Our household is a great example.

My wife works from home for a global technology company headquartered in San Francisco. But I commute to work every morning and often need to travel out to Indianapolis or Bloomington. From Bargersville, my financial planning business is just an easy 20-minute commute away with easy interstate access for business trips. And with the airport just 30 minutes away, my wife and I can easily travel when needed—without major traffic or hassles.

No matter your job, Bargersville is simply a convenient place to commute from. Less than 40 minutes away, Indianapolis is home to industry leaders like Eli Lilly, Salesforce, and Rolls-Royce, connecting you with career-defining jobs in everything from tech to healthcare. Indy is also a destination for continuing education with major universities like Butler to the north and IU just south in Bloomington.

On your way to work, I recommend stopping by Coffeehouse 5 for your morning coffee! This for-benefit business uses a portion of their revenue to provide counseling services to our community. I am a huge fan of their Nitro cold brew and loaded biscuits and gravy!

Discover all the fun things to do in Bargersville!

Looking for things to do? There’s nothing like summer days in Bargersville. Every Wednesday evening is the Bargersville Farmers Market, which has grown substantially over the past few years. This is where our community’s farming roots really shines through, offering convenient fresh produce, meats, and homemade items straight from the source.

When the weather’s nice, we spend hours down at Kephart Park with all the fun activities there. Kephart is a community favorite with a massive playground, splashpad, and pickleball courts donated by local businesses and families.

Residents also love going to Umbarger Plaza for the annual summer concert series, where residents can sing a dance with local artists. It truly brings a new life to our downtown!

And in the winter, our family always looks forward to Christmas time in Bargersville. There are several exciting events leading up to Christmas, including Santa Claus coming to town. This time, he gives the reindeer a rest and rides into town on the Santa Train! Kids line the street in downtown Bargersville to see the Santa Train and take pictures with the man in red.

We are proud to raise our family in Bargersville.

With top-rated restaurants, beautiful parks, and affordable homes, Bargersville gives residents a little bit of everything. My wife and I are thankful to live in a community that has so much to offer our young family.

Bargersville continues to grow bigger and bigger every year. But the community never loses the rich history and family-driven values that makes our town so special. We’ve never doubted our decision to raise our kids here, and we hope our children grow to appreciate the peaceful, fulfilling lifestyle of Bargersville in the same way we have.
