Zionsville, Indiana, is a suburb made for all lifestyles.
Zionsville is the perfect place for people seeking a city with small-town charm, a historic past, and an exciting future. With its brick-paved, village-style town center and 17 beautiful parks throughout the city, you nearly forget you are only 15 minutes away from downtown Indianapolis.
As a proud Zionsville resident of four years, I fall more in love with my town every year. It’s conveniently located in the southeast area of Boone County, just northwest of Indianapolis and within minutes of both Interstate 465 and 65. (Talk about easy access to the rest of the Indy region!) And Zionsville is right next door to other popular Indy neighborhoods like Carmel, Westfield, and Lebanon.
Zionsville is a city I love to call home.
My husband and I moved to Zionsville from the west side of Indianapolis back in 2017. Our main goal was to find a neighborhood that had easy walkability and lots of things to do within a two-mile radius. With no kids in the picture, we are always out exploring the yearly festivals and deciding what new cocktail we should try next. After some research, it became clear that Zionsville checked all the boxes for us: local shops, foodie destinations, local trails, and a diverse demographic of residents.
I love living in a city that’s so connected to nature, where I can easily find an accessible trail by merely stepping foot out my front door. There’s a relaxed and quaint atmosphere about this town that is hard to describe unless you spend a day here. I enjoy listening to the sounds of families playing in the local park, smelling the flowers bloom in the spring, and seeing our neighbors come together in the community garden. No matter the season, you can count on Zionsville to keep you and your family entertained!
Zionsville is one of the best cities to live in.
With a welcoming community and plenty of things to do, it’s no surprise that Zionsville was named one of the Best Places to Live in Indiana in 2019! Families and couples alike love living in our neighborhood because of all the amenities and characteristics that make our city unique.
Thanks to downtown Zionsville’s walkability, you can easily park for free along Main Street and walk around the city for a day of local shopping and good eating. I would describe Main Street as a location straight out of a Lifetime movie, between its historic brick paving and the local establishments along the street. And if you are anything like me, then you’ll also enjoy a nice bike ride, zipping down one of the many trails that connect to Main Street.
Explore a walkable city that’s perfect for runners and bike riders.
That’s one of the best things about Zionsville—there are lots of ways to get around town! Waiting for your reservation at one of our outstanding restaurants? You can walk over to the Lions Club Park for a hike along the creek or take the kiddos to one of their playgrounds. Feeling more active? Then, get those running shoes out and jog through the town to get a feel for its rich history. You might even spot a mural of Honest Abe along the way.
Even in the dead of winter, I often find myself walking under the snow-covered trees and catching a glimpse of the holiday decorations hung around town. And of course, a summertime walk isn’t complete without treating myself to an ice cream cone from the award-winning Scoop!

Fun Facts
Zionsville is home to 17 parks and facilities with over 400 acres of parkland.
Abraham Lincoln made a whistle-stop speech here in 1861 while traveling to his inauguration. This historical marker can be found in the corner of Main and Cedar Streets. You’ll know you found the spot when you see a painted mural of Honest Abe himself!
Zionsville is one of the few towns in the United States that has preserved its brick main street.
Enjoy a foodie heaven in a community that loves food.
Speaking of food and shops, Zionsville is home to a deeply respected business community. Main Street is filled with an eclectic mix of boutiques, farmers markets, mom-and-pop shops, and local restaurants just waiting for you to discover. As a foodie and connoisseur of local events, you can bet your bottom dollar that I take advantage of all the activities that get me involved in my local community!
For starters, you can count on finding me at the Zionsville Farmers Market every Saturday during the season! The market is hosted right on the Zionsville Main Street, buzzing with locals and visitors picking up baked goods, fresh produce, and other locally sourced products. After enjoying a morning at the market, I recommend stopping by Patachou on Pine. This hotspot is the perfect place for breakfast or brunch with a cozy atmosphere and kind staff. And if you stop by, do not leave without trying their signature cinnamon toast—you’ve been warned!
Another favorite event of mine is the July Fourth Fireworks hosted by the Lions Club. An annual staple for fellow Zionsville residents, the evening always kicks off with food and a concert, followed by fireworks beginning at dusk. Our neighbors bike, drive, and walk to the park to find a lucky spot on the lawn. Pro Tip: Get there ahead of the celebration to reserve your spot, and if you can, ride your bike for a convenient and earth-friendly way out of there! Other popular Zionsville events include the Brick Street Market, Fall Festival, Miss Indiana Pageant, and the Christmas in the Village Celebration.
Get a taste of the local flavor at our delicious restaurants.
Aside from events, I cannot miss the opportunity to highlight my favorite places to grab a bite during the week. On any given day, my usual lunch spot is Sub16 for a classic submarine sandwich roll with a side of their soup made from scratch. If the day is nice enough, I take it over to the park for a spontaneous picnic. For dinners, my husband and I gravitate towards comfort food like burgers, pasta, or pizza—and you betcha Zionsville has me covered!
And if you’re feeling bougie, I would recommend Noah Grant’s for a cocktail and some mouthwatering oysters! One other place that makes the neighborhood unique is the Brick Street Inn, a charming little gem with a light and airy décor. Within the hotel, you can find Auberge, a French-inspired restaurant open for brunch, lunch, and dinner. It’s sure to please any palate, and you cannot go wrong with their blueberry lemon crepes!
So, trust me when I say there’s no need to leave town to please your taste buds. And as a bonus, you’ll be supporting local small businesses!
Zionsville is a welcoming community made for all sorts.
Whether you’re a golfer, a swimmer, or an artist, Zionsville is a diverse community built to make all residents feel at home. From young to old, you are sure to find a special quirk that will keep you coming back! And parents can rest assured that their children are getting a quality education here. Zionsville Community Schools are ranked fifth in Indiana, and U.S. News & World Report ranks Zionsville High School as the third best high school in the entire state.
While the city may be small compared to its counterparts, it’s an artist’s dream! I am in constant awe of the variety of the art-related shops found on a single corner of Zionsville. A typical Saturday for me includes taking a walk down Main Street, grabbing a cup of coffee from Roasted in the Village, and browsing the window displays of the art galleries such as CV Art and King’s Art Studio. During the summer, Zionsville even hosts a number of art markets where vendors set up shop downtown.
Zionsville has outdoor adventures for you and your pets.
If art isn’t your thing, maybe you’ll enjoy exploring our parks and trails. Locals and visitors can enjoy features such as playgrounds, trails, canoe access points, and even nature watching areas. As an outdoorsy gal, I take pride in my town being recognized as a Community Wildlife Habitat. Fun fact: Zionsville was Indiana’s first certified habitat! I also make it a point to visit the park at Elm Street Green, just around the corner from the Wildlife Habitat marker.
For people with active pets, Zionsville also is a perfect spot for an evening walk! The community recently extended its Big 4 Trail, creating a connection between Zionsville and Whitestown. And when the trail is finally complete, it will span more than 50 miles and lead all the way to Thorntown and Lafayette. If you need a dog friendly place for your pups to run around, check out the Heritage Trail Dog Park. It’s a 3.5-acre park designed for your four-legged friends to get their sniff on!
